Vitinya Tunnel
The Challenge
The Vitinya Tunnel, constructed in 1984 and stretching 1,195 meters, holds the distinction of being the longest motorway tunnel in Bulgaria. Over the years, the tunnel has faced significant challenges related to traffic management and safety. The dense traffic flow, combined with the tunnel's aging infrastructure, increased the risk of incidents and posed a significant challenge for real-time monitoring and response.

To address these challenges, Sprinx, in collaboration with its local partner Sectron and system integrator ITST, introduced the traffix.ai software platform. This innovative solution leverages the power of AI and 3D object tracking technology to detect anomalous events in traffic flow. The traffix.ai platform is seamlessly integrated with the local SCADA system via the Modbus communication protocol, ensuring efficient data exchange and system control. Additionally, the platform’s capability to bookmark automatic incident detection events on the Milestone VMS platform, a technology partner of Sprinx, enhances the overall incident management process. This integration facilitates immediate response actions and improves the overall safety and efficiency of the Vitinya Tunnel.
