The Solution

To address these challenges, the Municipalidad de Valencia implemented an advanced video analytics solution in collaboration with ETRA and Sprinx’ Spanish distributor, Casmar, utilizing Hanwha Vision cameras equipped with Sprinx’s urban mobility software, co.exist. This solution aimed to accurately count the number of bicycles using the dedicated lanes throughout the city. By leveraging this technology, Valencia could gather comprehensive data on bicycle usage patterns, which was crucial for making informed decisions about future infrastructure projects and improvements. This system also facilitated the tracking of progress towards sustainability goals by providing insights into the impact of increased bicycle use on reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions. The project was part of Valencia’s broader strategy to enhance its status as a bike-friendly city, offering safe and efficient routes for cyclists while promoting an environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

The Result
  • The collected bike counting data provided enables better planning and optimization of the cycling network.
  • Reduction in traffic and pollution, contributing to Valencia's sustainability goals.
