Sprinx revolutionizes safety in Rouen’s Saint-Herbland tunnel

Nestled beneath the iconic Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen, famously immortalized by Monet’s impressionist masterpieces, the Saint-Herbland Tunnel serves as a vital passage in the heart of Rouen.

Sprinx is contributing to the safety enhancement of this 450-meter tunnel, which sees an impressive 8,000 vehicles daily, connecting the Palais des Beaux-Arts to the Palais de Justice parking area. This project underscores Sprinx’s commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of Rouen’s infrastructure, within a setting celebrated worldwide for its artistic and cultural significance.

Bouygues Energie et Services choose Sprinx to deliver an intelligent video analytics solution designed to ensure the highest levels of safety and efficiency within the tunnel. The AID system, powered by traffix.ai video analysis software, is built on the latest advancements in computer vision and deep learning technologies. Specifically tailored for tunnel and road applications, traffix.ai performs real-time video analysis, detecting incidents and potential hazards, such as stopped vehicles, wrong-way drivers, or pedestrian presence, helping to minimize response times and improve overall tunnel safety.

At the core of the system is the dragon platform, which acts as the communication hub, seamlessly integrating with third-party systems and aggregating data from multiple AID analysers. The deployment in the Saint-Herbland tunnel features a centralized solution with just one AID analyser equipped with Nvidia card capable of analysing up to 40 channels, ensuring continuous operation and minimal hardware requirements.

A key aspect of the project is the integration with Milestone’s platform, utilizing Sprinx’s proprietary plugin to facilitate communication between the AID system and the tunnel’s existing Milestone video management system. The AID system is also connected to the tunnel’s GTC (Centralized Technical Management) system via the OPC UA protocol, enabling comprehensive event management and reporting.

This project marks a significant achievement in tunnel safety technology, showcasing the versatility and scalability of Sprinx’s solutions. The close collaboration between Sprinx, its technological ecosystem and the end user, ensures that the Saint-Herbland Tunnel is equipped with one of the most advanced, reliable, and future-proof safety systems available today.
